Worship Services and Programs
What time are worship
services?
Sunday
morning worship services are at 8:45 a.m.
(traditional) and 11:00 a.m. (contemporary).
What’s the difference between
the traditional and the contemporary services?
The traditional service typically includes more traditional music such as
organ, choir, handbells or orchestra in a more formal setting. The contemporary
service includes contemporary music with guitar, drums, and bass with a
more casual feel. The readings, liturgy and sermon are the same at both
services.
When are your Holy Week & Easter
services?
Usually, CPC holds special evening services on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday,
and Good Friday. Palm Sunday worship services are at 8:45 a.m. and
11:00 a.m. There are generally four Easter services: traditional services
at 8:00 and 9:30 a.m., a contemporary service at 11:00 a.m., and a
sunrise service at a home overlooking the American River with the time
determined by the time of the sunrise on Easter Sunday. Please contact
the church office at office@carmichaelpres.org or (916) 486-9081 for
specific times and locations.
When are your Christmas services?
CPC generally offers two Christmas Eve services. The Family Candlelight
Service at 7:00 p.m. centers around children helping to build the nativity
scene as we recreate the first Christmas through scripture and carols
led by CPC’s Contemporary Worship team. We also light the Christ
candle. The Candlelight Communion Service at 11:00 p.m. allows us to
experience anew the wonder of Christ’s birth and the gift of
his life as we reflect, enjoy special music from the Sanctuary Choir,
share communion together, and light the Christ candle.
What types of children’s
programs do you offer?
On Sunday mornings, we offer continuous nursery care for children through
age 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday school for children age 4-12th
grade is from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. We also offer programs
for children age 4-5th grade during the 11:00 a.m. worship
service. For detailed information on curriculum and special
schedules, please
contact Lisa Torgerson, Children’s Ministry Director.
When is your Vacation Bible School?
How do I sign up? How much does it cost?
Each summer we offer Vacation Bible School. The 2008 “Son World Adventure
Park” was July 14-18 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 noon. It was open to
children age 4 – entering 6th grade. The cost was $15 per child ($60
maximum per family). Contact the church office at office@carmichaelpres.org
or (916) 486-9081 in the Spring for information.

Do you offer a cancer support group?
CAFÉ (Cancer And Faith Experience) meets on the
first and third Mondays of each month at 10:00 a.m.

by cancer in some way. That means, if you are now going
through cancer treatment, are surviving it, or love
and care for someone going through cancer, you’re
encouraged to come! They have lively discussions, laugh
a lot, and pray for one another in a risk-free, confidential,
caring place. For more information see our CAFÉ page.

What is the per capita?
Per capita funding is how Presbyterians mutually
share the costs of coming together to discern the
Spirit’s leading for the future. It is how Presbyterians
are trained to become better elders and ministers. It is
how Presbyterians participate in the life of the wider church
by serving on GA committees and commissions. It is how Presbyterians
participate in the life of the Church universal as we commit
ourselves to work and
live in fellowship with “all persons in every
nation.” It is how new churches are developed. It is
an annual amount, in addition to each pledge, that supports
the above
activities
of our Presbytery, Synod and General Assembly. For the
amount that goes to each, you may call our Financial Administrator
at 486-9081.
Can I donate a wheelchair, shower-chair, walker that I no longer
need?
CPC’s Health Ministries will consider donations of
gently used wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, commodes,
